How The “Fitness Norms” Are Preventing You From Building Your Dream Life & What You Should Do Instead…

When most think about fitness the idea of long gym sessions, strict diets, and sacrifices probably comes to mind.


This is what is known as the “Fitness Norm”, that 99% of people are currently following.


For years, the fitness industry, 99% of fitness coaches, and the majority of people have all been preaching the one-size-fits-all approach that assumes everyone has endless time, energy, and motivation to devote to their fitness goals and bodies. 


But I’m in the 1% and I’m hoping by the end of this blog you’ll be too and here’s why… 


The popular belief that 99% of people agree with goes totally against my values and beliefs as a fitness coach, because let’s be real. 


It’s not true that everybody has endless time, energy, and motivation to devote to their fitness goals because some of us have other priorities alongside our fitness goals and have extremely packed schedules!


I believed the fitness norm for some time, and as a busy woman with family responsibilities and career goals, it was doing me much more harm than good!


In this blog, we’ll cover if it’s also harming you and your chances of building a body you’re proud of, exceling in your career, and taking care of your family responsibilities effortlessly. 


Now, it’s more than likely that if you’re reading this, you’re a busy woman with career goals, and family responsibilities, who also wants to build their dream body that provides you strength, energy, and confidence. 


Am I right? 


That means you have a very packed schedule, and traditional fitness advice that may work for others, does NOT work for you. 


Because the fact is, it’s not designed for your unique lifestyle, and doesn’t consider your unique challenges, needs, and values as a busy woman! 


The Fitness Norm Doesn’t Work For YOU, Because… 

  1. It requires time you don’t have


The generic fitness plans are built around the assumption you can dedicate hours every week to a gym, but that’s impossible for your unique lifestyle. 


It’s unrealistic to follow a plan that results in you sacrificing areas of your life for another because it’s unsustainable, plus you don’t deserve to live your life like that!


  1. They ignore your values & priorities 


They ask things of you that are impossible for you to practice regularly, such as… 


“Spend hours of time on cardio”, or “Go until you feel exhausted”.


I think these are all unnecessary to build a body you’re proud of and achieve your fitness goals. 


Fitness norms rarely account for the unpredictability of your day, disregard your values, and ignore your unique challenges.


  1. They focus on aesthetics over empowerment 


Don’t get me wrong, looking amazing and aesthetic goals are important but I don’t believe they should be your main focus, 


Because let’s be honest, they aren’t your priority, and aesthetics aren’t what you value the most. 


However, having your dream body that feels just as amazing as it looks is.


Also, having a body that gives you the strength, confidence, and capability to excel in your career and thrive in your family life IS what you value. 


But generic fitness coaches aren’t considering the balanced, empowered, happy life you want.
