As a mom, it’s easy to lose sight of your needs due to juggling other responsibilities. Fitness can be seen as a secondary duty and being the best mom you can be is the first.
I understand your duty of being the best mom you can be, I really do. I’ve been there myself. But it was when I started taking my fitness seriously and making it a priority in life I noticed it helped me become the mom I truly wanted to be.
It can help you too, by making you stronger physically and mentally, or boosting your confidence as a woman… which we’ll discuss in today's blog!
Here’s something I’m sure you can relate to. Amidst the chaotic routine and balancing all of your responsibilities inside your packed schedule and busy lives.
The first thing to go is your confidence, you find yourself questioning your capabilities, and you may feel disconnected from the mom you wish you were.
Sound relatable?
This is where fitness can be a game-changer, helping you thrive in every area of your life as a mom.
Here how…
Endorphins
When you workout, your body releases endorphins, which are natural mood boosters that reduce stress and anxiety. As you regularly exercise you’ll notice a huge shift in your mood and energy levels which automatically translate to your perspective of life and your experiences.
You view challenges differently, and you genuinely feel more capable, stronger, and confident to face whatever life throws at you.
These endorphins strengthen you as a woman, building your confidence as a mom and person.
Sense of Self
Motherhood is known to sometimes lead to a loss of identity, it may make some women feel they’ve lost their way and they no longer recognize themselves.
Your priority is motherhood, and everything else (including your own needs) is now secondary.
But with having fitness in your life… you have more structure in your life and allows you to reconnect with yourself in a way that matters to you. When you’re reaching milestones, achieving goals, and celebrating them along the way, you’ll start to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride.
You’ll view yourself differently, you’ll feel empowered to continue, and excited. From there, your confidence will grow.
Role-Model
When you’re boosting your confidence through exercise, and training, the people around you may become inspired, for example, your children.
Not only do you start to notice you’re more capable of taking care of your loved ones, but you’re setting a powerful and empowering example for the people close to you.
It’s important to keep note of the positive impact you’re having on yourself, and others too.
Self-Care
Exercise allows moms to have more “Me Time”, it’s a form of self-care and an opportunity to do something for themselves.
Prioritizing self-care and practicing exercise which they enjoy and makes them feel good helps mothers feel valued and reinforces their identity outside of motherhood.
Plus, during this allocated time for themselves, they have an opportunity to connect with other mothers who are going through similar experiences. They can share advice and their challenges. This can provide social support and a sense of community.
All of this is crucial for self-confidence.
Energy Levels
Exercise increases energy levels which helps moms get through parenthood because sometimes it can be exhausting and difficult.
But by exercising regularly, you feel more energetic, allowing moms to manage daily responsibilities more effectively, contributing to a greater sense of control of your day, helping your confidence…
Conclusion
Building confidence through fitness as a mom is more than getting physically fit, and appearance-based reasons, it’s also about reclaiming your control in life and feeling more capable in each area and role you have.
As you continue your fitness journey, remember that every step you take, each goal you set and achieve, is progress towards a stronger, more confident version of yourself.
