Becoming a Stronger You…

I get it… Starting a fitness journey as a mom can be overwhelming, especially when you have so many responsibilities to manage. It’s easy to feel lost, and anxious about your journey while having such a packed schedule.

But becoming a stronger version of yourself allows you to thrive in every area of your life as a mom, that’s all we truly want, right?

I hope this blog helps you in some way achieve that.

Okay, let’s dive in!

Define “Strength”

Firstly, we must define what “Stronger” means to you individually, because everyone has their own definition of becoming stronger, we must discover what yours is.

Strength can mean different things depending on your individual needs and life, the definition must align with what you truly desire.

For some moms becoming stronger might mean physical strength, or energy to keep up with their kids, and give their best for their family. Or not feeling exhausted at the end of the day.

For others, it may mean building emotional strength and having internal toughness to handle the challenges life throws at you.

Take some time to reflect on what you wish to achieve and align it with your definition of “Stronger”, once you have a clear understanding of what it means for you, you can begin setting goals that are meaningful for YOU.

Your Goals

A common mistake many moms make is when starting a fitness journey, they’re setting goals that are too unrealistic and simply not attainable.

It’s important to set smaller goals along the way to achieving your main goal, this builds confidence, momentum, and motivation over time, allowing you to have a much more sustainable journey as a fitness mom!

Here are two examples:

  1. If your goal is to run a marathon, start by setting a more achievable goal to run a mile without stopping

  2. If you wish to build strength, aim for one more rep next time try that exercise

Breaking your goals down into smaller, more manageable, and very achievable steps helps you avoid feeling overwhelmed, but also increases the likelihood that you’ll stick with your fitness plan and become the fitness mom you desire to be!

Flexibility & Adapting

Your life is full of unpredictability as a mom. Anything can happen and you must be able to adapt to unexpected changes.

Instead of beating yourself up for making a mistake in your fitness journey, like skipping a session, recognize that life happens in weird ways sometimes.

Adjust your plan when necessary and focus on consistency rather than perfection.

Nothings perfect.

It’s okay if you have to take smaller steps than originally planned, be flexible if things change and think about what you can do instead. Stay on track as much as you can and discover new ways you can move closer to your goal if option A has gone off the rails.

You’ve got this! You will become stronger. I believe in you.

Comparison

Avoid the comparison trap that many moms feel stuck in, it’s easy to compare yourself to others. Other moms may seem to have it all put together. Who have “Perfect Bodies”, and endless energy, but remember…

Everybody’s journey is unique, and the glimpse of their life that you see is NOT the full picture.

Your fitness journey is uniquely yours, focus on your own progress and what works individually for you and your lifestyle, everybody’s needs are different.

Comparison can lead to frustration, demotivation, and disappointment. Instead, celebrate your own progression and take pride in your unique individuality as a mom.

You should be proud of yourself!

Conclusion

Becoming a stronger mom is different for everyone, once you discover your definition, ensure that all of your actions and decisions related to becoming stronger align with YOUR definition, and don’t compare yourself to what others are doing.

Because they have a different definition, why would you compare it with theirs?

This grows your confidence, and you have something meaningful to work towards, which is the main goal.

It’s not about perfection, it’s about remaining consistent and being flexible if changes do occur, one step at a time, one small achievable win at a time, celebrating each one.

This is how you become a stronger mom.
